Social Media Checklist

I was talking with Katie tonight about her plan as she gets ready to launch her website and her book. As I was "consulting" her (can you consult your wife?) and as I was telling her some things to do, she took notes. These notes are the subject of the first part in our "Brand Yourself" series.

Below is a checklist to complete that you could probably complete in a weekend:

Base, or Home

(1) Set up a website and blog
(2) Start writing down post ideas (you should do continually do this)

Outposts

(1) Set Up A Phibble Account and Customize It (including your Avatar!)
(2) Set Up A Twitter Account and Customize It (including your Avatar!)
   (2A) Get on Twitter Search and start looking for people to network with

(3) Set Up A Facebook Account and Customize It (including your Avatar!)
   (3A) Set Up A Facebook Fan Page and Customize It (I'll be doing a post on this later)

(4) Set Up A LinkedIn Account and Customize It (including your Avatar!)
   (3A) Join some groups and start posting/replying to topics

(5) Set Up Accounts at other relevant site like YouTube, Flickr, Plaxo and Customize Them (including your Avatar!)
(6) Secure Your Username (AKA Brand) on every site out there - The User Name Check can help you get started.
